Step 4: If all wax cannot be removed
Ordinarily, earwax can be completely cleared out within a single session; however, circumstances wherein this can’t be achieved do occur, requiring an additional visit. Most often the inability to clear out the wax within a single session can be attributed to the following circumstances:
- The earwax has clung onto hairs and/or ear canal skin
- The earwax is old and has built up thick, stubborn layers over time
- The recommended wax softening drops were not diligently applied in the 3-4 days leading up to the visit, impeding wax extraction due to hardness

Common Symptoms of Wax Blockage
Cerumen, known to many as ear wax, is a natural substance produced by specialized glands in the exterior portion of the ear canal. What is the cost?
For ear wax removal, the standard rate is $130. A discount of 10% is accessible to senior citizens or pension cardholders. Unfortunately, this particular service is exempt from Medicare rebates.
How long does it take?
We will need to assess the solidity and quantity of your ear wax as well as its depth in the ear canal to determine the procedure to follow. We have set aside 30 minutes for your consultation. In some instances, it becomes necessary to schedule a secondary consultation, in scenarios where the wax lies deep within the ear canal, when the wax is particularly hardened, or when there has been no pre-treatment with a wax-softening agent before your visit.
Is it painful?
