Wearables are everywhere, ever heard of hearables?

There has been much information in the media recently about wearables – electronic technologies or computers that are worn on the body such as the smartwatch. Some wearables are so tiny that they are able to be worn in or around the ears.  These are known as “hearables”. 

In short, hearables are tiny ear-worn computers designed for many purposes including entertainment, wireless transmission, communication, medical monitoring and fitness tracking. Their main aim is to supplement and enhance the user’s listening experience.  They may be incorporated into a hearing aid, or even just worn on their own as an earbud.

Satisfaction with hearing aids in recent years is very high. Overall satisfation has increased to 8 out of 10 (81%)of hearing aid users from 74% in 208, a recent study from the USA shows. Futermore, satisfaction was higher among those with newer aids: 91% for hearing aids purchased within the last year.  They confirm that their hearing aids improved their relationships, work performance, general ability to communicate, overall quality of life and ability to participate in group events.
