The cost for ear wax removal is $130 for both ears. We offer a pensioner/senior card holders 10% discount. There is no Medicare rebate for this service.
How long does an ear wax removal procedure take and is it painful?
The factors impacting the duration and intensity of your procedure include wax volume, hardness and how far into your auditory canal it has lodged itself. The time allocated for your visit is half an hour. There’s a possibility that a follow-up visit might be necessary due to the location of the wax being more towards the inner ear, the solidity of the wax or perhaps if a wax softening solution wasn’t utilised pre-session.
Normally, you won’t feel a thing during the process, but in a few cases, there might be slight discomfort if the earwax is deeply embedded or impacted. Should any discomfort arise, the process will be ceased right away. In some instances, especially with deep-seated or hard wax, it might be necessary to schedule another appointment to ensure a safe and pain-free extraction. Following your procedure, your healthcare provider will provide further instructions.

Find Your Nearest ClinicManor Lakes Ear Wax Removal Technique
Step 1: Assessment
Enquiries about your ear health history, overall wellness and any potential hindrances to the ear wax extraction will be made by your audiologist. An exhaustive inspection of your ear canal using a binocular microscope will be performed prior to starting, by the audiologist, who will then evaluate the scenario. Guidance on the subsequent steps will be given thereafter. Throughout the complete ear wax removal process, it will be necessary for you to hold your head stationary.
Step 2: Ear wax removal via micro-suction
A small suction tube attached to a suction machine is used to remove the ear wax from your ear canal. This works a little bit like a vacuum cleaner. You will need to keep your head still during the whole ear wax removal procedure.
Step 3: Ear wax removal using other techniques
Your audiologist may employ alternative techniques if micro-suction isn’t suitable for eliminating earwax or foreign objects from your ear canal. One such method involves the use of specialised micro ear wax loops or forceps. These are highly precise instruments crafted for delicate tasks. The audiologist carefully inserts the loop or forceps into the ear canal, making sure to avoid damage to the sensitive internal structures. Once in position, the tool is used to gently grasp and extract the wax or any foreign material that may be lodged in your ear. This procedure is typically quick, but it’s performed with utmost caution to ensure your comfort and well-being.
Step 4: If all wax cannot be removed
In most cases wax can be entirely removed during the appointment; however there are instances where this is not possible and a subsequent appointment is necessary. Some of the main reasons that wax is not able to be removed during the appointment include: the wax has adhered to hair and/or skin within the ear canal, wax has been present for some time and has accumulated in layers that are quite deep and hard, wax spray/drops were not used for the full 3-4 days prior to the appointment and the wax is too hard to remove.
